“If inflation continues to seem well-contained, even if it’s sort of sideways and gradually heading back down to 2%, then it continues to allow the Fed to focus on the labor market,” said Jeffrey Rosenkranz, portfolio manager at Shelton Capital Management. “If you don’t need to worry about inflation accelerating, then you can still ease a little bit to protect the labor market,” he added. “They don’t want it to deteriorate any further than it already is.”
