Shelton International Select Equity Fund Celebrates Five-Year Anniversary with Overall Morningstar Five-Star and Four-Globe Sustainability Ratings

Denver, August 30, 2021 – Shelton Capital Management (“Shelton”), a multi-strategy asset manager with more than $3.8 billion in assets under management, is pleased to announce the five-year anniversary of the Shelton International Select Equity Fund (SISEX).

“We are proud to receive Morningstar’s highest rating. We believe this is a validation of our strategy, which is focused on the premise that a company generates value for its shareholders by successfully redeploying capital over time,” said Andrew Manton, Portfolio Manager of the Shelton International Select Equity Fund. “By focusing on a company’s economic returns and its reinvestment rate, we believe our principles-based approach in conjunction with the lifecycle methodology enables us to make more accurate assumptions about the future generation of cash flows—the basis for a company’s stock price.”

The Fund, which has an Overall Morningstar RatingTM of 5 stars among 680 Foreign Large Blend funds, based on risk adjusted returns, as of 7/31/21, seeks to achieve long-term capital appreciation by investing in a concentrated portfolio of 30-50 stocks using a proprietary process that focuses on identifying companies that generate superior and consistent internal returns on capital in order to create shareholder value. The Fund also has a top 5% ranking of all Foreign Large Blend Funds for the five-year period ending 7/31/2021. *

Furthermore, the Fund’s investments are based on a principles-based investment philosophy, and the Fund seeks to invest in businesses it believes are on the whole beneficial to society, and in the first instance considers potential investments on that basis. The criteria for such businesses are that they offer products and services that improve the lives of their customers, and of people in the communities in which they operate, and to exhibit responsible management practices.

In addition, as of June 30, 2021, the Fund received four globes under the Morningstar Historical Sustainability Rating.  The Morningstar Sustainability Rating for funds helps investors measure portfolio-level risk from environmental, social, and governance, or ESG, factors.

Manton, who has over 20 years of industry experience and over 10 years investing in international markets, also oversees Shelton Capital’s International Strategies in separately managed accounts (SMAs), as well the Shelton Emerging Markets Fund (EMSQX, EMSLX), which was launched in 2020 and is the successor to the ICON Emerging Markets Fund.

The Morningstar © Sustainability Rating is a measure of how well the portfolio holdings are managing their ESG Risk relative to the portfolio’s Global Category peer group. The Morningstar Historical Sustainability Score is a weighted average of trialing 12 months of Morningstar Portfolio Scores. More-recent portfolios are weighted more heavily than older portfolios. Based on their Morningstar Historical Sustainability Score, funds are assigned absolute category and percent ranks within their Morningstar Categories. Higher ratings are better and indicate that a fund has, on average, more of its assets invested in companies that have lower ESG risk as characterized by Sustainalytics. The Morningstar Sustainability Rating is depicted by globe icons where High equals 5 globes and Low equals 1 globe. Morningstar updates its Sustainability Rating monthly and uses Sustainalytics’ ESG scores from the same month as the portfolio as of date.
